Pre-Installation Checklist

Before installation, verify all components and site requirements.

  1. Check package contents: Outdoor unit, indoor unit(s), remote, installation kit, manuals.
  2. Select location: Outdoor unit on stable pad with clear airflow; indoor unit on interior wall with proper drainage.
  3. Verify electrical requirements: Dedicated circuit with correct voltage/amperage per specifications.
  4. Plan refrigerant line route: Keep piping run within allowed length, minimize bends.
  5. Gather tools: Torque wrench, vacuum pump, manifold gauge, flaring tool, pipe cutter, level.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Incorrect installation can cause injury, property damage, or void warranty.

Installation Steps

Follow this sequence for proper installation.

  1. Mount indoor unit: Use template to mark holes; secure bracket level to wall; hang unit.
  2. Install outdoor unit: Place on vibration-absorbing pad or brackets; ensure minimum clearances.
  3. Connect refrigerant piping: Cut, deburr, and flare copper pipes; connect to indoor/outdoor units.
  4. Run drain hose: Slope downward from indoor unit; route to proper drainage point.
  5. Make electrical connections: Connect power and communication cables between units per wiring diagram.
  6. Evacuate and charge: Pressure test with nitrogen, evacuate with vacuum pump, release refrigerant charge.
  7. Test operation: Power on and run system through all modes; check for leaks and proper function.

CAUTION! Handle refrigerant according to EPA regulations. Wear safety glasses and gloves.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access functions via remote control or indoor unit buttons.

Remote: POWER, MODE (Cool, Heat, Dry, Fan, Auto), TEMP ▲/▼, FAN SPEED, SWING, TIMER, SLEEP, RESET, FILTER indicator.

Advanced Settings (via remote):

Electrical Connections

Connect power and communication cables per wiring diagram provided with unit.

  1. Turn off all power at main breaker.
  2. Run cables through conduit from outdoor disconnect to outdoor unit terminal block.
  3. Connect indoor unit to outdoor unit with communication cable (shielded, 2-conductor minimum).
  4. Ensure ground wire is properly connected at both units.
  5. Use correct wire gauge per ampacity and local code.

Tip: Label all wires before disconnecting. Verify voltage matches nameplate.

Refrigerant Piping

Proper piping is critical for system performance and longevity.

  1. Measure and cut pipes: Use pipe cutter; ensure cuts are square.
  2. Deburr and flare: Remove burrs; create 45° flare with flaring tool.
  3. Insulate pipes: Cover both liquid and suction lines with closed-cell insulation.
  4. Connect to units: Hand-tighten flare nuts, then torque to specification.
  5. Pressure test: Use nitrogen to pressurize system; check for leaks with soap solution.
  6. Evacuate: Connect vacuum pump; pull deep vacuum (below 500 microns).
  7. Charge refrigerant: Open service valves; add charge if needed per length calculation.

WARNING! Never use oxygen or compressed air for pressure testing. Use nitrogen only.

Commissioning & Testing

After installation, verify system operation.

  1. Power on: Turn on disconnect and indoor unit breaker.
  2. Test modes: Run cooling, heating, fan, and dry modes.
  3. Check temperatures: Measure supply/return air temp difference (cooling: 15-20°F; heating: 15-25°F).
  4. Inspect drainage: Ensure condensate flows freely from drain hose.
  5. Verify remote: All functions respond correctly.
  6. Listen for noise: Check for unusual vibrations or sounds.
  7. Record data: Note pressures, temperatures, amp draw for future reference.

CAUTION! Do not operate system if unusual noises or smells occur. Shut off power and investigate.

Care & Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and extends system life.

CAUTION! Do not use harsh chemicals, steam, or water pressure on coils. Turn off power before any maintenance.
