Unit Placement & Clearances

Correct placement is critical for performance, service access, and safety.

  1. Indoor Unit: Mount on a sturdy wall capable of supporting unit weight (≥ 4x unit weight). Ensure minimum clearances: Top 15 cm, Sides 12 cm, Front (for airflow) 200 cm.
  2. Outdoor Unit: Place on a stable, level base (concrete pad or brackets). Ensure minimum clearances: Rear 30 cm, Sides 30 cm, Front 100 cm, Above 200 cm for unobstructed airflow and fan operation.
  3. Avoid Locations: Do not install where flammable gases may leak, where oil or steam is present, or where unit noise/airflow may disturb neighbors.
  4. Piping Route: Plan the shortest possible route between indoor and outdoor units with gentle bends to minimize refrigerant flow resistance.

CAUTION! The outdoor unit must be installed in a well-ventilated location. Restricted airflow can cause overheating and system failure.

Piping & Drainage Installation

Handle refrigerant piping with care to prevent leaks.

Pipe Preparation: Use clean, dehydrated copper pipes. Cut with pipe cutter, deburr, and cap ends until connection. Flare connections to specified dimensions using a precision flaring tool.

Connection:

  1. Remove service valve covers from outdoor unit.
  2. Align pipes, apply a thin layer of refrigeration oil to flare seat, and connect to valves.
  3. Tighten flare nuts with a torque wrench to specified torque (e.g., Gas side: 40-50 N·m, Liquid side: 20-25 N·m).
  4. Route drain hose with a continuous downward slope (≥ 1/100 gradient) to a suitable drain point. Insulate both refrigerant pipes and drain hose to prevent condensation.

Tip: Perform a nitrogen purge (0.5 bar) while brazing to prevent oxidation scale formation inside the pipes.

Electrical Wiring

All wiring must comply with local electrical codes.

  1. Turn OFF all power at the main circuit breaker.
  2. Connect Indoor Unit: Run power cable (specified gauge) from dedicated branch circuit through the wall to the indoor unit terminal block (L, N, Earth). Connect communication cable to terminals (1, 2).
  3. Connect Outdoor Unit: Run power cable from a separate dedicated circuit to the outdoor unit terminal block. Connect the inter-unit communication cable from the indoor unit.
  4. Secure all cables with cable ties. Ensure no tension is placed on terminal connections.
  5. Install a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) as required.

WARNING! Incorrect wiring can cause electric shock or unit malfunction. Always refer to the wiring diagram on the unit's service panel.

Vacuuming & Refrigerant Charging

This critical step removes moisture and non-condensable gases from the system.

  1. Leak Test: Pressurize system with dry nitrogen to 4.0 MPa (40 bar). Check all joints with electronic leak detector or soap bubbles.
  2. Evacuation: Connect manifold gauge and vacuum pump to service ports. Evacuate system to an absolute pressure of ≤ 500 microns (0.5 Torr). Hold vacuum for 15 minutes to check for pressure rise (indicating moisture or leak).
  3. Charge Refrigerant: Using a calibrated scale, add the precise amount of R-32 refrigerant as calculated (pre-charge + additional for piping length). Charge in liquid form into the liquid line service port with system OFF.
  4. Final Check: Open both service valves fully on the outdoor unit. Tighten valve caps. Perform a final leak check on all joints.

CAUTION! R-32 is mildly flammable (A2L). Work in a well-ventilated area. No ignition sources nearby. Use dedicated R-32 manifold gauges and recovery equipment.

Commissioning & Test Run

Verify system operation before handing over to the customer.

  1. Power On: Restore power at the main breaker and at the indoor/outdoor disconnect switches.
  2. Remote Setup: Insert batteries into remote. Point at indoor unit signal receptor.
  3. Test Run: Press ON/OFF button on remote. Select COOL mode, set temperature to 24°C, and high fan speed.
  4. Monitor: Check that indoor fan operates, louvers swing, and cold air is discharged. Verify outdoor unit fan and compressor start. Listen for abnormal noises.
  5. Measure: Check operating currents against rated values. Measure temperature drop across indoor coil (typically 8-12°C).
  6. Function Test: Test other modes (FAN, DRY, HEAT if applicable), timer, and swing functions.

Record: Document installation details, refrigerant charge, and test measurements on the commissioning sheet for warranty registration.

User Interface & Settings

Explain basic operation to the end-user.
